Last night was #3 without power. Or heat. All of my family is safe. The wind on Monday night was very scary but thankfully did not damage my apartment building or my mom's house. Trees are down everywhere, but the highway is clear so there was no issue getting to work.
Came to work yesterday and there was only generator power in part of the building. We couldn't do anything in our part, so everyone was standing around talking about the situation and gossiping. Which is what we do best. Ha.
Finally, they moved my whole department to another section in the building that has power, and we have been here since about 3:30 yesterday. Crammed in like sardines but able to work. Yay. :Whatevah:
Cell service has been spotty at best and it has been next to impossible for me to get on to xanga, but thanks to those who have been thinking of me and the whole area. There are still MANY people without power and best estimates righ now say not until Monday or so. The lines at the gas stations are an hour long, not looking forward to when I will need to fill up, possibly Saturday.
Anyway. I wrote this on my lunch and now I've got to get back to it. Once I get power back I will post a more detailed post, perhaps. In the meantime, I hope everyone else is doing okay. :)

what is so fascinating with The Situation? Sure he has bulked up since his time in rehab but he has absolutely no talent.
Glad to hear things are going all right. I feel so bad for everyone who lost homes, family, power and irreplaceable items. I hope things get back to a normalish state soon.
You should probably go to the gas station at, like, 3 in the morning. If the lines are an hour long now, Saturday sounds awful.
i hope your kitty kept your feet warm! very glad to hear you are alright and I hope things are back to normal for you soon.
I remember a few years ago A hurricane struck and people where such in a hurry to get out at the last minutes that they filled up the freeway. Bad thing was that more people died from the heat than the strom
@godfatherofgreenbay - you would probably be appreciative of a facebook post I saw telling the Jersey Shore cast they should donate some of their millions to the place that made them famous. You also might find it ironic to know that while much of The Shore has been destroyed, the house where the show was filmed is apparently still standing.
@Foodhog - every day, there are more people with power, and more stores open. We're getting there, slowly. Of course, the area I live in doesn't really have much physical damage, aside from a billion trees down. For places that have been flooded or burned, it's gonna be a bit longer. I've only heard on the radio, haven't been able to watch much television.
@randaness - Coworker Kathy's sister did that. Still had to wait an hour and forty minutes or so. There's plenty of gas, just no electricity to pump it. Once the power comes on, the gas issue will go away. In theory.
@lanney - He did actually lay very close to me on the bed. I'm not sure if that's because he's cold or if the dark and quiet scare him.
@Mind_of_Eplx - Yeah, I'm lucky in that I don't live near the water, otherwise the flooding would be a major issue.
