A Somewhat More Cheerful Post
Today's better-than-yesterday mood is brought to you by "Your Auntie Grizelda."
Seriously, can you be in a bad mood after listening to that? Really? Well, how about this one?
C'mon, that one had puppies!!!
So the other day I watched Jeopardy and then after that was over I was flipping through the channels and came across this documentary on the Smithsonian Channel of all things that was about Making the Monkees. It was an old documentary, which I'm pretty sure I'd seen at least parts of before, and wasn't terribly in-depth, but I watched anyway because I was bored.
Then today I went to work and the Loud Annoying Complainy Lady was again sitting between me and Frank and the Talky Sharey Lady was sitting on the other side of the wall from me and the Talky Lady Who Looks Like A Man was, well, talking because that's what she does.

So I put on Pandora and lately Pandora has been annoying me because there's an excess amount of commercials. So I downloaded Spotify, which I had previously been using on my computer to listen to Monkees songs and so I went on to listen to Monkees songs for most of the day, which basically erased my bad mood. So, yay!

In other news that is work-related and possibly a complaint, there are two stacks of Things to Do at work and the Team (Transfer Lady, The Clueless One, and the New Lady Who Is Always On The Phone) have been totally on top of the one pile but the second pile I realized the other day was very far behind. So I started working on it and then Carol took all the items from the first pile and did them herself so that the New Lady couldn't do them. She only had 3 things on her desk when she went to Lunch (Carol spied) and then she didn't get up to take anything from the second pile of Things to Do and there were no things in the first pile, so we don't know what she did all afternoon.
The Clueless One, meanwhile, is apparently dying, and has been dying for the last week or so, but won't take a sick day because she's an idiot. Seriously, she'll have like a 110 fever and still be like, "Oh, are you sure, I don't want to go home, don't you need me?"
In other news that is work-related and not a complaint, I have off on Friday. I don't have the slightest idea what I'm going to do with my day off. I have a tonnage of housework to do (as always) and I think I'm probably going to do at least one or two loads of laundry since the laundry room will likely be pretty empty. But I don't intend to spend the entire day doing that. Might go shopping, though I hope not to spend too much money because I don't have an infinite supply of cash. Sadly. :P
In other news that is not work related, I am now hungry, so I'm going to go and make something for dinner.

About your day off! If your weather is half as nice as ours is now I would take a good part of the day and take a nice long walk in the city or the country. Give yourself a mini-vacation.

my monkees pandora station is currently fixing my wagon. seems to be doing the trick. although i had to turn it down to be able to concentrate on the boring crap i need to read.
Love the monkies and have always found them to be up lifting and light hearted. Your job sounds stressful and busy. Hope you are able to use lots of music to relax.
I'm still surprised that the Clueless One wasn't fired. Or, rather, that the New Guy was fired and Clueless One wasn't. Also that New Guy was fired and New Lady Who Talks On Phone wasn't.
Hey, by the way, can you see my profile picture now?
There is all sorts of internet radio. I get internet radio via wifi on my PSP. I don't think I can get the monkee's music but it might be under classic popular music.
Monkees are great to do housework to. That and Ace of Base. I like to dance and sing loud when cleaning, mostly because I hate cleaning. I'll also listen to books on tape when I do stuff. I mean if I had to actually think about what I was doing, I'd go batshit.
@vexations - It actually is supposed to be really nice weather. Maybe I will take a walk in the park. It's probably not going to be very busy on that day. Good idea!
@promisesunshine - It's odd, because you'd think music would distract me from what I need to do, but the sound of people talking (or yelling or cursing or whatever) is for me way more distracting. I can study and work and focus and whatever with music on, but not with people talking. The same is true for sleeping, now that I think about it. I used to sleep with the radio on all the time, but I can't sleep with the TV on, and if people are having a conversation nearby it immediately wakes me up. So at work, the music helps me focus by blocking the thing I can't naturally tune out. Of course, that's assuming that I don't want to listen to the music more than work. Which I do, but I can get past.
@Grannys_Place - I listen to music almost non-stop when I'm at work, unless I am training a New Person or learning something myself. It's very helpful. :)
@randaness - I think the only reason they fired Speedy the New Guy is because he was the most recent hire. If New Lady On The Phone had come after, it would have been her, but she beat him by a week or two. They said it wasn't about performance, and that's definitely true because he was performing like 100,000,000 times better.
And yes, I can see your pic on my computer now! What did you do different?
@PPhilip - I used to listen to my own music but then I got tired of having to pick what to listen to. Pandora is neat because you can put in an artist and it gives you lots of similar songs, but on Spotify I can listen to just that one artist, like their whole album. And on Pandora there are commercials, unless you pay for it (I don't). Used to be like every 4-5 songs, but lately it seems like there are more.
@wickedgood - Oh, I like Ace of Base, too. I only have 3 of their songs. But that sort of upbeat music is great for cleaning. I have tried but I can't listen to audio books. I will be listening and then thinking and then I'll forget to be listening and then like 5 minutes passed and I missed what happened in the book. Sometimes I can do it if I am drawing, but it's still hard to make my thoughts shut up. My mom uses them all the time while doing housework, cleaning, laundry, cooking.
@leaflesstree - same with me.
@leaflesstree - Well, I could always see it, up until a few weeks ago when it suddenly disappeared for me, too. So I deleted that one and reloaded it.
@randaness - weird. the really weird thing was that I could see it on my phone, just not on the computer. So then I was missing things you posted on my computer because I didn't see the kitty. You'd think if it was going to not work, it would not work in either place. :P
Friday is my laundry day. The plan for my weekend is yard work, weather permitting and go to the local library sale. And maybe get some much needed sleep.
Tell him you'll introduce him to the Loud Annoying Complainy Lady, the Talky Sharey Lady, the Talky Lady Who Looks Like A Man, the Transfer Lady, the New Lady Who Is Always On The Phone, and The Clueless One. He will surely fall in love.
The monkees! Love them too!
I used to love work, but there was lots of intrigue. There was a rule, if someone in the offices messes with my department, there was a penalty. lol
Music and puppies are great for making us happy--I don't listen to much music, but my wife loves it.
frank
@Zoz36 - yeah sleeping would be nice. hope to not do too much of that and waste my free time.
@we_deny_everything - He will fall in love with me, or one of my insane coworkers? Either way, he likes crazy people.
@ThankfulEveryDay - I was a pretty big fan of them when I was a kid. :)
@ANVRSADDAY - Yes, that's what I need, a slave. Er, I mean, husband.
We do not have that policy, my department is the one that gets walked all over. I think we need to hire more scary looking, muscular men.
