Very Random
* warning: this post has been written under the influence of Benadryl. You have been warned. *
In an attempt to be concise, here are some thoughts, organized and filed.
music related statements:
I have been listening to Pandora a lot on my iPhone lately, and not just at work. Recently, I typed in Melissa Etheridge. This station has given me Sheryl Crown, Natalie Merchant, Sarah McLachlan (did I spell that right? I'm too lazy to google, you know who I mean), Sara Bareilles (ditto with that one), as well as Linkin Park, 3 Doors Down, Matchbox 20, and a number of other random artists from the mid-90s I haven't heard in forever.
Here's a video:
I haven't done a playlist in a while. Haven't been inspired by any particular subject. Had the thought a few times that I was going to just make a list of random songs that have been in my head/ on my radio lately, but haven't. Anybody have any ideas? I'm open.
health related statements:
"Achoo." See above statement regarding Benadryl.
sigh. Also, ouchie. I don't know exactly what I did yesterday, I think I banged my hand on the table or something? and anyway now my fingers hurt on my left hand. Ouch. I forgot about it this morning and then I made the mistake of bending my fingers and then I remembered. Put ice on it this afternoon, which helped, and then wrapped the middle & ring fingers in masking tape for a bit so I wouldn't be tempted to move them, which also helped. Mostly it's just those two fingers, though occasionally the pinky hurts also. I'm guessing it's nothing serious, though, since they're neither black & blue nor swelled.
Achoo again. Sigh.
love life/ social related statements:
::crickets::
Hello, is this thing on? Oh, right, the topic. Never mind.

Does anyone know how one goes about becoming a mail-order bride? Because I think that's probably the only way I'm ever going to get married at this point. Like, if you can pay my airfare, I'll fly out and marry you. Unless you run a cult, because I'm not into cults. I saw a guy on Chemistry.com once who specifically wanted a wife to help him run his "new church." I wonder if he ever found one.
work related statements:
No, no, no. None of those today, it's Sunday. Come back tomorrow, thankyouverymuch.

car related statements:
So yeah, I'm basically decided on the Spark, and informed both the parental units yesterday. They seemed supportive, well, supportive for them, by which I mean they didn't frown and say discouraging words, so that counts. Otherwise I haven't done anything further to push the process along. Dad said I should go next week with Mum to the dealer and have her look at it and then we could decide on things like color and which extra bells and whistles I want/am willing to pay for. Mum and Aunt #3 (the car-dealership-working-aunt) both thought I should maybe consider getting the car from a place closer to where I actually live. That way I can easily bring it to them for service, etc.
I thought, I know there must be a Chevy dealer around here somewhere so I looked at it on Google Maps and, not only is there a Chevy dealer, I pass it every day on the way to work. D'oh.
food related statement:
Had Perdue chicken strips for dinner tonight, as well as some spaghetti with Alfredo sauce.
cat related statment:
All is well with Squirt.
recap of the day type statements:
Woke up late today. Went to Starbucks for lunch. Did some more on-paper writing of the untitled Dragon Story. [Insert here statement about how maybe I might type this and post it here if anyone cares
] Plus side of being right handed, right hand does not hurt, and writing doesn't require more than one hand. Yay. Sneezed a bunch. Took the long way home because I was bored and also the main road I took down had this annoying detour because some trees had fallen down or something and that slowed down traffic even more going the other way. Went home and did absolutely nothing all afternoon aside from some doodling and playing around on my phone. Ate the above mentioned dinner whilst watching Great Migrations and then took a shower in hopes that it would help the sneezing. It so far hasn't. Cleaned the litter box. Woohoo.bonus! extra-random statement: Alec Baldwin apparently likes doing nature documentaries. I hadn't watched much of Great Migrations before, so I don't know if he does all of them, but he was also narrating one about the arctic that I forget the name of that I watched some time back. It's funny when I actually know the narrator of the documentary I'm watching. I guess his voice is distinct enough that I recall it. The last line of the episode was about the zebras returning to the grassland, and they could smell the scent of sweet grass and water ahead, and also, the pungent aroma of home. Which made me laugh.
weather related statements:
There were apparently storms yesterday? I was lazy and paid no attention to the universe outside my own head until about 2, when I decided to get dressed so I could go and get something to eat and then go to mom's. I looked at my phone to check the temperature so I could dress appropriately, and it claimed that it was currently raining. I looked outside and saw sunshine galore, so chalked that up to the weather app's general inaccuracy (it does funny things like that on occasion - also it is often higher than the predicted high) and went about my business.
Well then I got outside and there were puddles all over so I guess it did rain. The radio people were talking about possible tornadoes in Brooklyn (!) and also terrible weather near the Tappan Zee bridge. I think that's two words. Tappan Zee. But maybe it's one. Tappanzee. I dunno, either way spell check doesn't recognize it. It's a bridge, north of the city, that goes over the Hudson river, connecting Rockland and Westchester counties. The name Tappan Zee is Dutch, and means something like "wide river" because that's basically the widest part of the Hudson. Astonishingly they have not yet renamed it for a person, although when they build a new one which supposedly they are starting soon, they probably will name it after some bozo in the government.
There is also a town called Tappan and a town in New Jersey called Old Tappan, and in both of those it's pronounced differently than you pronounce Tappanzee, the accent is placed differently. I have been to Old Tappan and it is not on the river so I'm not sure how it got its name. Wow, that was a way to get off track of the weather.
Anyway there were minor rains whilst I was at Mum's, no wicked thunderstorms or anything like that. Boring. But today there were trees down or maybe just power out, because I saw the electric company trucks around a bunch.
Wow, I talk about the weather a lot. Maybe this is why I have no life?
closing statement:
That is all for today. Hope y'all had a pleasant weekend with less sneezing than me.
Achoo.

Gezundheit!
Tappan Zee sounds like what a foreigner would call a chimp. I don't know why I think that.
I'm watching Leverage. It makes me happy.
I kept thinking I'd do one of those music posts, but I'm always too distracted to find the right videos.
Have a good week!
well, crap. i had a whole long blathering comment and firefox stopped working while (whilst) i was researching the tappan zee bridge and now my ridiculous comment is gone. but now i have confirmed that the tappan zee is the bridge into new york and i'm happy that i was right about that.
and now i shall send this comment and spare you the rest of the gibberish i had typed.
You do not want to become a mail order bride or you will have to offer yourself for sale in another country and I think the other countries are more screwed up than ours.
Hope you have a good week coming up all to fast and I hope you get over those allergies real fast.hmmmm...air fare? checking web sites.
@lanney - thanks. Yes, the bridge is pronounced sort of the same way as chimpanzee. I've never seen more than the commercials for Leverage. It looks interesting, though. Yeah, finding the videos takes the longest time.
@promisesunshine - I never say whilst in real life. But I often type it. Not sure why.
@Grannys_Place - Hmm, true. I suppose I could be selective and screen the potentials before agreeing to fly. Also, I could be a domestic mail-order bride. Then I wouldn't have to get a passport. :)
Allergies will probably be better tomorrow. Hopefully.
@buddy71 - lol maybe i should mention I'll only fly first class? ;)
@leaflesstree - because you are quirky and clever and entertaining. and maybe have a taker on the airfare. :)
@leaflesstree - works for me.
I double-sneezed today. And by that, I don't mean that I sneezed twice in quick succession. I mean that I was sneezing, but I had it under control, when another sneeze came at the exact same time and I just exploded spit all over myself. It's never happened before, but I swear that it was two at the same time.
glad all is well with Squirt
so you have adverse side-effects to Benadryl? I have problems with Aleve. I remember back when I was playing football, I took a bunch after a practice because my ankles hurt so bad. My parents decided to go out for supper after I finish practice. I fell asleep in the restaurant and tried to sleep under the table.
food related statement: I cannot eat chicken at all, as I once researched the forced feeding and hormones of mass chicken production. And "free range" is a kind of marketing fairy tale.
Alec Baldwin related statement: I watched Walking With Cavemen half a dozen times and never got tired of it. You should try it.
weather related statement: if you talk about the weather a lot, it only means you are british.
The christian fiction books here at the library make mail-order brides sound adventurous and very very lucky with whom they end up with. I think in the real world, you might want to rethink the mail-order idea! I'd hate for you to end up over in the Ukraine working for a pimp. Feel better soon.
@godfatherofgreenbay - oh my. No, my reaction to Benadryl is pretty normal, it knocks anyone out. I take it often enough that sometimes the knock-out part doesn't affect me, and other times it does. It's particularly likely to make me sleepy if I take it and then watch TV or try to read a book, because then I'm doing nothing, but if I take it and then am either physically or mentally active I'm usually okay. I will still sort of feel the sleepiness long after the medicine has supposedly worn off, though. Like I took some yesterday evening and then this morning when my alarm went off, a good 12 or 13 hours later, I still felt like I was a bit woozy because of it.
It's not a terribly unpleasant feeling, so I guess I see how people can become addicted to drugs.
@RulerofMasons - aw, no. I'm sure there's someone for you! Maybe you should look into mail-order brides?
@we_deny_everything - Spain would be my best option of those listed, since I can speak some Spanish. Can't speak a word of Greek or Portuguese, though I suppose I could learn easy enough since I'm pretty good with languages. I try not to think about where food in general comes from or else I wouldn't be able to eat much at all. :P I don't think I've watched Walking With Cavemen, though I've watched so many documentaries maybe I have, and I know at least one was about cavemen. Will have to look into that, I like anthropological and historical documentaries.
Ha, not British, at least not so far as I know. My mother's father's family was Irish some how...I forget exactly how, and that name is pretty Englishy, but then I'm not sure that was his real last name. His first name was either Elton or Eaire, so either way kind of from that side of the pond. Hmm, that does explain my interest in the weather now that you mention it.
@LastStopCrazyTown - Wait, there are Christian library books about mail-order brides? Somehow those two ideas don't come together in my mind. But I suppose the good Christian mail-order wife will then convert her husband or help him to spread Christianity? Hmm. Yeah, the real-world application would probably be fairly un-romantic. :P
You would think the dating sites are good places to look for suitable mates. I don't know if marriage sites have good records but yeah they are more in business for successful matches.
I sneeze several times at once and several other people do the same thing.
Trees down? Be very glad it didn't fall on you or knock out your power.
You're still a youngster... I'm closing on 50 and have almost given up. Cheer up. Knock on wood, no colds/flu yet...
Hope you have a nice rest of the week,
frank
