Yay! \o/
Long weekend! \o/
Yeah, I'm crazy happy about that. This week has been insane, although today specifically was pretty boring.
All was quiet until about 11:30, when the tag printing company lady emailed me to say that they were printing a lot of tags this weekend (which we knew) because of this special thing they're starting next week. So she was suggesting that maybe the special tags could wait until a later time to ship, because the courier service that delivers them was reluctant to wait later for all these extras to finish printing, and also we didn't want the tags to get to the stores really late, since they are kinda time-sensitive.
It seemed good to me but I didn't think I had the authority to make such a decision, so since Frank was out (otherwise the email would have gone to him) I forwarded it to Matt, who was off in meetings or something all day even though his Outlook calendar said he was free.
About 20 minutes later he replied back, "No way." So I worded that more gently to the tag lady, copying Matt so she could argue with him if she wanted, and left it at that. About five minutes after that, Frank, who apparently doesn't understand the meaning of the word "vacation" this week, emailed to tell me to tell the tag lady that the plan was good. I replied that Matt had already said "no way." Then Frank saw my email relating Matt's response, and so he said, "OK ignore what I said."
An hour or two later, Matt came back from wherever he had been and asked if I had heard from the tag people and I said, No, not yet. And he said, we can't delay the regular tags just for the special tags, and he didn't think the tag printers would be able to separate them. Even though they'd clearly stated in the email that such was their intent.
Matt has terrible, horrible, possibly non-existent reading comprehension skills. So anyway after that he agreed that the plan was good, and then went on to call the tag people and the courier people and work out the deal which was exactly as they'd proposed.

Aside from that the day was pretty uneventful due to the fact that half the floor save our department either took off or left early due to the holiday. Carol and I amused ourselves by making fun of the Loud People. The Loud Lady announced (loudly) that she has bronchitis, which seemed awfully inconsiderate of her considering that Pregnant Lady is in her department.

I left work on time on time. The back roads were empty as anything, but the highway was backed up with people heading down for the last weekend at the shore. Autumn is coming, in case you couldn't tell. The radio station last year (I think?) was saying that, "Oh, summer's not over, it's just the last weekend you have to pay to get on the beach!" which is technically true, but there's usually not many beach-worthy days, weather-wise, after Labor Day. Ah well, another year gone and I spent no time at the shore. In other news, did you hear MTV is cancelling Jersey Shore?
Anyway I went on the highway for about five minutes to get to Starbucks, which was remarkably busy, and then spent about an hour there scribbling many words in my notebook. Perhaps this weekend I shall get to typing some of them into the computer or even posting some online so some unsuspecting folks can read if they so choose. The plot of the Still-Untitled Dragon Story is coming together in my head, pieces becoming clearer. But there's still a LOT of writing left to do. And I'm still not quite sure how it ends.
I need to find some sort of hobby that doesn't involve using my hands. Because they're really starting to hurt. I came home after Starbucks and worked on my crochet project for a bit, but that's probably as painful as writing/typing and thus hurt after a bit. I thought about drawing, but, yeah, that's almost the same as writing. I used to play guitar and that hurts in a different way. And here I am blogging, ouch. :P
This weekend I have no specific plans other than to not work. I am hoping that either on Sunday or Monday I might convince one of my Parental Units to come to a car dealership with me. Mum says I should see what kind of credit they're willing to offer me, and of course see what they have available. But I'm not going to go alone because I have no financial mind whatsoever, so I'm likely to be talked into something I think is a good deal and turns out to not be. Not that I'm a pushover. But I'm stupid enough to not know if something is a good deal or not.
I like to think of myself as a relatively intelligent individual, but there are two subjects about which I have little to zero knowledge. One is all matters of finances and math, including things like interest rates, how to calculate things in my head, and other forms of concrete math. Math such as algebra and geometry I am okay at, but the useful sorts of math I am useless with. The second is music. I can sort of read music and I think I can sing in tune (no one has complained yet) and even make an instrument make noise that sounds like music, but the theories and such I have no idea. This is not, I believe, because of any deficiency in my brain, as the math thing may well be, but because I have simply never been taught such things.
Anyway. I have no other plans for the weekend except to sleep late tomorrow. \o/

I have that same issue--everything I want to do makes my hands cramp after awhile.
Hurray for long weekends!
Hoping to sleep in on Monday. The next two days are slotted for chores. Tuesday is looking to be hectic. Short-handed and Lord knows what other work I get stuck with besides being stuck in the freezer. Two more days of that. Good luck on the car hunting...
I'm terrible at car buying stuff, too :/
I have never bought a new car in my life. But buying a car helps the economy and it is an impressive status symbol.
Basically before buying a house or a condominium you need a credit record. Buying a car tells the financial people that this person may be qualified to pay off a loan. I suppose if you get lucky there will be a first time car buyer deal. Then again someone who is a newbie is also a prime candidate to be suckered.
There are folks who buy cars only by the internet. That is a strong position to start out with since there will be a price and other stuff that shows you are a smart buyer. Good luck.
Enjoy your week end and we are staying off of the road away from the crazies.
@lanney - I'm pretty sure it's due to the fact that I spend so much time doing things with my hands, and not doing them in ways that are ergonomically correct. Like typing. I theoretically know how to type correctly, wrists up and all that, but I never do. :P And I do a LOT of typing.
@Zoz36 - Slept late yesterday and today. Did accomplish a few things today though, laundry and vacuuming and some bathroom cleaning. Monday will be the car-shopping day so I suppose I will get up early tomorrow.
@randaness - My current car is used, and I basically let my mom handle all the financial details, lol. But I decided that I'm not going to buy a used car again because I'd rather get something that I know is in 100% perfect shape when I get it, less headaches. Anyway, that's why I'm making my dad go with me. :)
@PPhilip - I don't know if I'm going to impress anyone with my status symbol, lol. But yeah I plan to check out stuff online before going, and the fear of being suckered is why my dad is coming with me. :)
@Grannys_Place - good plan! There are lots of them out on holiday weekends. :P
My wife has not told me yet what I have decided to do this weekend.

@ANVRSADDAY - sounds like my house ::grins::
