Look, Some Words!
Is it Wednesday? Yes, it's Wednesday.
You might be wondering why it is that I haven't bothered to update in a few days. Well, there are several reasons.
1. I'm somewhat lazy. After a long day in the coal mines office, I don't much feel like doing much of anything. So I haven't really even been on Xanga. Sorry to all those people who have missed my brilliant and witty comments.
2. Okay, so the real reason is that the keyboard/mouse thingie on my laptop (my only computer) has randomly decided to cease functioning. Which makes it sort of difficult to use it. Now, I have a tablet, which actually has a wireless mouse as well as the pen thingie so that can be used in place of the tracking mouse thingie. But it's still necessary to occasionally type things, so the lack of typing ability makes things annoying.
Now, my laptop, which is a MacBook by the way, and which I love, is about 4 years old now, which I know because I bought it not long after I started my current job. It still works mostly okay, though it does slow down on occasion, and the cd/dvd drive stopped working about a year ago. (I haven't bothered to get that fixed because I can live without it. Although I do kinda miss being able to watch movies on my laptop.)
Under ordinary circumstances, I might just say, "@*#& it!" and buy a new laptop. Although the cheapest Mac laptop, the 11 inch MacBook Air, is still kind of expensive (and insanely thin! I'd probably break it, so I'm best off spending the extra for the MacBook Pro, I could afford it without too much hardship. Especially since I've got a bunch of money in savings.
Except! I also happen to be in need of a new car, which costs a great deal more than a new laptop. And that's what I was in the process of saving for.
Speaking of cars. My current car, a 2002 Saturn, is on its last legs. There's something wrong with the computer, so the "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" light keeps coming on, but there isn't really anything actually wrong with it. Usually. Unless there is. Anyway lately the light's been coming on, then going off, then coming on, with each interval lasting a few days or more. Sigh.
So the purchase of a new laptop or the fixing of the current one will likely wait until after I've decided on a car and have figured out how much I'll have to be spending in car payments etc. In the meantime, I went out today to Best Buy and bought a keyboard, which as you can tell seems to be working fine. It'll do as a temporary fix in general.
In other news, this week has been controlled chaos, mostly. I've been very busy at work thanks to Frank and Kathy being off. Thankfully, most of the crises have been minor and manageable, although the overall volume has been insane. No sooner do I finish a task when I get an email with another task. Then, whilst reading THAT task, yet another email comes over. On Monday, Matt was calling me roughly every 30 minutes. Once, he called and asked me to come to his office. So I did. Once there, he asked me if a particular store had closed recently. It had.
That was all he wanted. Don't ask me why I couldn't have answered that over the phone.
::headdesk::
I meant to go to the gym this evening for the first time in Bob knows how long, but I ended up working later than normal, and then when I got on the road there was such traffic, ugh, so I detoured around on to some back roads and ended up at Best Buy, since I was there already.
Note to self, upcoming holiday weekend means take the back roads home the rest of this week. But it was like 6:30, you'd think everyone would have been off the road by then? Nope. Nope, nope, nope.
Sigh.
There is little else to report in my universe. I am working on crocheting myself a tote bag, since I haven't seen any that I didn't hate or at least not love. It will probably be a complete mess when done because I am not following a pattern and I am out of practice with the crocheting in general.
Several pluses to this new keyboard - there is a number keypad, which I like. The up arrow works. I had previously broken that button off of my laptop. Also, there is a delete key - as opposed to merely a backspace key. I like that ability.
Also, the game Draw Something is immensely amusing.
That's all for now.

DRAW SOMETHING! Currently I'm terrible at that game. SO TERRIBLE. But I shall improve.
@randaness - you are amusing! And at least you are making an attempt to draw things as opposed to my other random opponents who just scribble words. :P
Also, what kind of phone did you get?
@leaflesstree - LG Optimus Elite. In white! I want to steal a stylus from work so that I can draw better pictures :p
I hope you don't develop miner's lung working in the coal mine. I was lazy this evening too but I was stuffed on deep fried dill pickles and Italian beef.
Mmmmm Waffles... Just add more syrup. And butter.
Bob knows the last time you went to the gym, hah? Who is that? Many years ago, when the internet was a baby, there was a famous site "Praise Bob." Same guy?
The site is still there. I found out it was authored by a co-worker.
@Zoz36 - these were somewhat burnt, so they needed more syrup than the entire store carries. Which I would be okay with, but maybe my arteries wouldn't appreciate.
@we_deny_everything - Oh, that's hilarious, I'm going to go search for that right away. "Bob" is my default humorous male name. I think using Bob in place of God came from an episode of Rugrats where the babies have a trial. They of course have no understanding of what a god is, so when it comes time to be a witness, they swear "to tell Ruth, the whole Ruth, and nothing but Ruth, so help ye Bob."
But aside from that, it's been my humorous name and sort of an inside joke with some of my college friends. Ah, the stories I could tell about Bob. Perhaps I shall make a Bob Blog, because otherwise this will get very long.
