Wow it's Tuesday already...?
Well, technically Tuesday is nearly over, but somehow I haven't written a blog since Friday. Not sure how that happened.
Saturday I spent roughly 20 minutes on line -standing that is, not on the interwebs - at the post office so I could get my security deposit back from the Old Apartment, which they sent to me Registered Mail which I am never home to receive so I had to go to the post office to get. Of course the post office has the very helpful weekday hours of 8 to 5:30 and of course I work 8 to 4:45 but usually end up staying to 5, and so if I left at 4:45 on. the. dot, I might, might get there just in time to watch them close the doors.
But anyway now I am rich because I got that money and then today I got my tax refund deposited. All of the security and most of the refund went into savings because I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up needing a new car in the next year or so and I"ll need the money for that. I'm determined to get a new car, and though I know I'll obviously have to take out a loan, I'd like to put a decent amount as a down payment.
So feel free to give me some car advice if you want, and I'll pretend I understand it. Most likely I'll end up getting a Hyundai Accent (click for official linkies) which is really 2,000 dollars more than the price listed on that website because I can't drive a stick
. I've driven the Accent before - my dad had a 2000 one that I drove somewhat regularly and didn't hate - and I had two friends who own them and loved them. Also, it's cheap. And small. I like small cars. Other small cars about the same size? Ford Focus - which I hate. A coworker of mine had one and I didn't even like sitting in it. I sat in one back when I was shopping for the current car and didn't like it. Also it's more expensive. Seems like most of the other small cars I've looked at are more expensive, though still cheaper than massive SUVs which you could not pay me to drive, but maybe I'm missing something?
Anyway after that I had lunch and went to my mom's. Half-Price Frappuccinos from 3-5 all this week at Starbucks, by the way. Which I can't get because of my above-mentioned work schedule, but I did get on Saturday, and then I think I went somewhere else but I forget. Brother and I went to the bookstore so he could get his magazine. Were thinking about going Mother's Day shopping but since we've decided he's going to get her a plant it's best if we wait until next week. Also Sunday is Brother's birthday (he was born on Mother's Day also) so at some point this week I'll need to buy them both gifts.
Sunday I did laundry and went to the library, where I got three books to read and I've already read two of them. One is called Alloy of Law by Brandon Sanderson, and it's set in the same world as a trilogy of books he wrote called Mistborn. Actually, only the first one is called Mistborn, but the whole series is called that now just to make it easier. Anyway it's a really interesting world, even if the ending to the first trilogy was a little weird and theologically heavy, and this latest book takes place 300 years later with all new characters. According to the forward, the author plans to write even more books in this universe, which I find exciting. Now that I'm going to the library regularly I might perhaps find out about these things in the same decade they are written.
Let's see, what else do I have to babble about? It's been raining off and on for the last two or three days, which I suppose is good because it was so dry for all of April. Coworker Gail commented that the months were pushed back. It was supposed to be March winds, which we got in April, and then April Rains, which we're now getting in May, so I suppose that means roses won't bloom until July and it'll be really hot in September, but then we'll have an October blizzard again?
As long as it's not in August. One thing I have taken comfort in is that despite how odd the weather has been, it will never snow in the northern hemisphere on my birthday, which is in the middle of August. If it does? Well, I'm moving to the tropics. Hawaii perhaps.
Work is uneventful at the moment. Señor Biblioteca has been in fine form these past few days, as his Library Thing is apparently going to apply for non-profit status and he has a Board now, okay whatever. I happened to see his flier at the library on Sunday (thankfully they were not having a meeting) and the only thing written on it is to contact the Señor about basically all things regarding the group. I'm not sure how someone can run such a group and also apparently do his job in the Company, which explains why he is not doing his JOB at the COMPANY because he is always on the phone about the Library Thing.
Meanwhile, the Loud Ones (who work for him) seem to get LOUDER by the day and the gigglers keep giggling, the Clueless One slowly gets more and more Clueless (yes it IS possible!) and the New People are plugging away doing okay from what I can tell. Shrugs all around. Business as usual.
Move along, nothing to see here.
Here is a photo because what is a post without a visual aid that has nothing whatsoever to do with the words. I found it amusing. I might have shared it before. I might have stolen it from you. Sorry if I did, I'd credit if I could remember, but I've had this forever. I was sort of half-watching a documentary on bears the other day but none of them quoted Shakes Bear.

I started to give you advice on car-buying, then I realized that I still identify cars by color, so I don't think I'm probably the best person for that.
I love Shakesbear.
It looks like a nice car, just not a fan of the lime green
@lanney - yeah, I'm definitely not a car person. 4 of my I forget how many uncles are or were mechanics (or could be mechanics if they tried) but I somehow didn't get that in my genes.
@xdeelynnx - oh yeah, definitely would not get it in that color. I like green, but not neon lime. :P
$5,000 down will get you around $202 monthly payment. I suppose they still have the guarantee of everything covered except for gas and oil.
Today I spent trimming brush. nothing to write about but hey at least I don't have any pressing bills or fortune coming my way.
I am so bored with the top posts that I am going thru my subscriptions.
haha my entry is similarly called "tuesday but it feels like monday" :P
I know nothing about cars so I can't give you any advice, but how awesome you're going to be buying one soon!!
and that bear at the end is making me crack up hahaha
@PPhilip - that's not a terrible payment amount. If I remember right they have a pretty good warranty at Hyundai. Fortune would be better than bills, I think. :)
@raspberryjade - haha Shakesbear is kind of a nerd joke but I think anyone who took high school English can appreciate it. :)
Sad. We don't have half price fraps here. I'm so jealous. I want my Dark Mocha fraps.
what is a frap?
I really wish I knew how to drive stick.
What I know about cars can be written on the back of a matchbook in a large black marker. So good luck with car shopping...
Nice looking car and Honda holds it trade in value. I own a chevie aveo and love it but am not a car expert.
Car dream ! The car tempts us and is a bad investment . I had many cars . What does it remain from them ? This being said I loved my cars and the children keep many fond memories of our adventure with the cars . I made a xanga entry in the past about mt cars since 1960! Among cars I always had two brands : Citroën and Renault.
I am amazed you succeed to read 3 books in a week . Compliments
In friendship

Tax refund - I am envious
@godfatherofgreenbay - it was hard enough for me to learn to drive regularly, I'm sure I'd totally screw up stick. Not very mechanically inclined, me. :P Here is a frap. Bad for me but yummy.
@Zoz36 - Hah. Yeah I think I know a little more than that. But not much.
@Grannys_Place - well now that is a possibility. I have a Saturn now and I periodically get things from GM dealers because they'd like me to buy another GM brand (and Saturns aren't around anymore). The Aveo does look cute and small. Have to keep that in mind!
@scribelife - yeah it's not a LOT, but nice to have a little extra. :)
Haha, Shakesbear. Shouldn't that have another e on the end, though? Or a 2, which is what I KEPT TYPING because my fingers are retarded.
You know, the quality of used cars is better than it used to be, because the quality of new cars has been better than it used to be. So unless you really really want a new one, used ones work just fine. But, you know... new cars and stuff. Yay.
