random...
Today, there was sunshine. This made me happy. :)
Also, it was cold, which did not make me happy. And I had to work. But it was okay.
Work was not overly stressful. The New People seem to be getting along well. Señor Biblioteca resumed his babbles on the telephone this afternoon, interrupting himself every so often to cough, hack, and nearly choke, but I did not kill him, so it was a good day for him as well.

I went to the gym after work. Sadly, I had forgotten to bring my Good Sneakers, so I had to wear the crappy old ones, but I walked for about 15 minutes, biked for almost ten, and did some other random machiney stuff with weights.
Afterwards, my legs felt kinda wobbly. Woo-hoo.
In other news.
Random OK Cupid Guy #3 (the musician), after bailing on me two weekends ago, claiming to have a cold, has not again messaged me. Oh well.

Random OK Cupid Guy #4 periodically texts me, but his main focus in life seems to be watching whatever sports thing is on that evening. Lately it seems to be hockey games.
Is it possible to shrug loudly?
SHRUG!!
Last night I stayed up later that I should have watching Major League II, which is ironically enough a movie about sports. No, I don't know why I was watching it. It was on, okay? OKC#4 seems to work nights or else be a late-night kind of guy because when I do get texts from him it's late in the evening. So he texted me at like 10:30 asking how I was and I said okay for a Monday. Then he called at a little after 11. I didn't answer because a) I was still watching the movie and b) I was supposed to be in bed so I didn't want to get involved in what was likely to be either an awkward or long conversation.
All of my phone conversations are either awkward or long. I don't know how ordinary people have normal phone conversations. I either haven't the slightest clue what to say or else I go on for hours and hours (or the other person goes on for hours and hours). I hate talking on phones in general. Never call me. Unless you want to see for yourself how terrible I am at interpersonal skills. :P
So anyway he left a message which was short and rambling sort of like "Hey I just wanted to say Hi and Hey and how are you and [mumble] and are you free this weekend?"
Yeah, that probably would have been an awkward conversation.

So I texted him back this morning at about 10 AM to say, "Hey, sorry I missed you, went to bed right before you called. I should be free this weekend. "
And he answered at about 7:30 this evening.
Okay then.
I was going to write a poem but I forgot the words to it. Oh well.
I finished re-reading Pride & Prejudice & Zombies and have loaned it to Coworker Gail. I was describing the plot to her (and how it differs most amusingly from the original, which she has read/seen many times) and she thought it was funny. I showed her the book which has some interesting illustrations and she found this also amusing.
She says she will have to share it with her son, who would often come in while she was watching the movie for the umpteenth time and bemoan, "Oh, this again?" We are fairly certain the inclusion of the undead will possibly make it more interesting to him. I also mentioned wanting to read Sense & Sensibility & Sea Monsters and the promotional video I saw on the interwebs.
Here it is, for your amusement:
I haven't yet read the original Sense & Sensibility, but of course I read the Zombies version of Pride & Prejudice before reading the original. (Also I think I had seen parts if not the whole of the movies/miniseries/etc on television). I don't think I've read nor seen a word of Sense & Sensibility.
But anyway, that's that. Currently I'm reading a novel called The Reincarnationist which I am only up to the second chapter but seems to be interesting so far. All thoughts of sense or sensibility will wait until this book is finished, as I'm terrible at reading more than one thing at a time.

In other news, they finally got around to installing the new security system at work. Before, everyone had ID cards, and you were supposed to swipe your little card thingie and then walk through the door. There were certain doors that you had to use the card thingies at to open, but there were many ways around these things.
Well, now they've actually installed turnstiles at the entrance, so you have to actually swipe your card and then actually wait for it to be accepted (a half-second at most) before the turnstile will turn, and then you have to squeeze your fat derriere and whatever other packages you might be carrying through that turnstile. Not long after passing through, you then have to swipe your card again in order to escape the lobby. Unless someone who went before you is kind enough to hold the door through.
On the third floor, where I work, there is a lobby when you get off the elevator, and you then have to swipe your card to get out of the lobby. Unless someone is in front of you, or someone has propped the door open (which you're not supposed to do). However, there is no such thing on the second floor, and there's nothing preventing stair-takers from getting from the second to the third floor.
All this is well and good and stupid but the really dumb part is that now you have to swipe your card on BOTH sides of the turnstile, in order to enter AND to leave the building. Which we have all decided is more for the purposes of tracking our arrival/departure times than security.

In the last bit of news, I've decided that the theme of this Friday's Playlist will be the Ultimate Randomness. I have currently 3,440 songs on my iTunes, some of which are complete crap. Pick a number between one and 3,440, and I will shuffle up my iPod and give you whatever song pops out. Unless it's not suitable for human listening, in which case I shall reshuffle.
I stole this idea from a radio show, but both the show and the station have since gone off the air, so I have no fear of being sued.
So.
GIVE ME A NUMBER!!!
between 1 and 3,440.
And on Friday, I will give you a song.

How is that not a fire hazard?
Also, I love Sense and Sensibility. The movie, anyway. I haven't read the book yet.

3012. I do not like to talk on the phone either. I text more than talk. Gave up the house phone a while ago for a talk and text phone, not a smart phone or driod, just talk and text with a nice slide out keyboard.
@Zoz36 - oh, belated happy birthday! Major League is a good movie, I've watched it a bazillion times. I don't know if I'd ever seen the 2nd or 3rd ones all the way through before.
@Grannys_Place - Yeah, I don't have a land line either. I talk on the phone so rarely I don't see the point of having a second phone bill. :P
@leaflesstree - Sounds like people will be trampled to death, or possibly crushed and suffocated in the crowd. And then later they will catch on fire. So this is both a fire hazard and disaster-psychology-hazard.
@randaness - I hope they catch the whole thing on video. It'll be entertaining to watch on the evening news.
@leaflesstree - FOR THOSE WHO SURVIVE.
@randaness - as I undoubtedly will because I am awesome.
@leaflesstree - You're infuriating to worry about, you know XD
Is my number not good ?
