• Not Poetry

  This is not poetry

  This is not a poem

  This is merely

  a collection of words

  with

  miscellaneous and

  random line

  breaks.

   

  There are no witticisms

  or

  wry observations

  or

  sappy emotions

  the might make you barf

  or cry

  or do whatever you do when confronted with an emotion you don't want to deal with.

   

  There is no introspection

  or

  funky misspellings

     because I can

  because I can't

  because I am not a poet

  and this is

  not

  poetry

  and I must pretend to obey

  the laws of spell check.

   

  This is not a comment

  upon society

  upon poets

  upon writers

  upon neighbors

  upon politics

  upon religion

  upon foreign policy

  upon smart people

  or

  stupid people

  or

  people who are uncertain of how to spell "potato."

   

  I am not a poet.

  This is not a poem.

  There is no rhyme

  nor reason

  nor motivation.
